The Pawn Broker

The Pawn broker was founded in 2021 as a collaboration with artist Villiam Miklos Andersen and architect Lauge Floris Larsen with the aim of investigating personal objects, systems of value and pseudo-businessmodels through the symbols and practises of a pawnbroker. The Pawn Broker created the installation The Pawn Shop for documenta fiftten at ruruHaus in Kassel by The Pawn Broker.

The Pawn Shop was situated in ruruHaus, a documenta fifteen venue that was established in a former shopping mall and was functioning as a sort of public hub for activities and information both before and during documenta fifteen. The Pawn Shop consisted of different modules, that could be put together to shape spatial structures. During documenta, the installation was open to interactons from visitors, and was changed throughout by the different collectives in ruruHaus to function as a platform for their different activities; exhibitions, events, etc. during the 100 days of program.
